All India Council for Technical Skill Development (AICTSD) is a national organization formed to create technical leadership at an institutional level. 2. Madhava Mathematics Competition by S.P. College Pune and HBCSE Mumbai
Homi Bhabha Centre for Science Education (HBCSE) is a National Centre of the Tata Institute of Fundamental Research (TIFR), Mumbai, India. The broad goals of the institute are to promote equity and excellence in science and mathematics education from primary school to undergraduate college level and encourage the growth of scientific literacy in the country To these ends it carries out a wide spectrum of interrelated activities, which may be viewed under three broad categories:
- Research and development,
- Teacher orientation and science popularisation
- Olympiads and other students’ nurture programmes
It is India’s nodal centre for Olympiad programmes in mathematics, physics, chemistry, biology, and astronomy. Another major program of HBCSE is the National Initiative on Undergraduate Science (NIUS).
HBCSE runs a graduate school in science and mathematics education. Students admitted to HBCSE Graduate School work for the degree of Ph.D. in Science Education, which is a degree from TIFR (Deemed University).

Sir Parashurambhau College (S.P. College) is an Autonomous (since 2019) college in Pune, Maharashtra, India. Established in 1916, as New Poona College at the hands of the British Governor Lord Willingdon. The college was renamed as Sir Parashurambhau College as a mark of gratitude towards the then ruler of Jamkhandi State who donated Rs. Two lakhs in the memory of his father, Parashurambhau Patwardhan.
The college is governed by Shikshan Prasarak Mandali, a private education society in Maharashtra. S. P. College provides a platform for cultural activities and promotes students to cultivate their skills. The present site of the college was leased to the Shikshan Prasarak Mandali by Shri. Sardar Jagannath Maharaj Pandit at the request of Lokmanya Bal Gangadhar Tilak. SP College also offers many platforms for the overall personality development of students.
The competition is named after Madhava, who introduced, in the fourteenth century, profound mathematical ideas that are now part of Calculus. His most famous achievements include the Madhava – Leibnitz series for π, the Madhava – Newton power series for sine and Cosine functions, and a numerical value of π that is accurate to eleven decimal places. The “Madhava School”, consisting of a long chain of teachers-student continuity, flourished for well over two centuries, making significant contributions to mathematics and astronomy.

3. SOF International Mathematics Olympiad – 16th International Mathematics Olympiad (IMO)
IMO is one of the most popular math competitions for high school students. 16th International Mathematics Olympiad (IMO) 2023 will be conducted by the Science Olympiad Foundation. The aim of this Olympiad is to encourage and develop the interest of students in Mathematics subject.

Students from classes 1st to 12th can participate in the Olympiad. Interested students who want to apply may contact their school because the registration forms are accepted through schools only.
Grade: 1 – 12
16th IMO level 1 examination: 1st week of December 2022, 4th week of December 2022, 3rd week of January 2023
16th IMO level 2 examination: 2nd or 3rd Sunday of February 2023
4. National Talent Search Examination (NTSE)
NTSE is another popular math competitions for high school students. National Talent Search Examination (NTSE) is a National level scholarship program organized by the Government of India and conducted by the NCERT (National Council of Educational Research and Training) for exemplary students studying in class 10th. The exam is conducted in two different stages:
- Stage I – State level
- Stage II – National level
As the name suggests, it is an opportunity for class 10 students to be recognized as the nation’s talent.

Students can get the NTSE 2023 application form from their schools and the Liaison’s office. They can also download a printable format of the application form from the official website of NCERT https://ncert.nic.in/.

5. Indian Olympiad Qualifier in Mathematics
MTA was founded at a meeting of the founding members held on 20 March 2018 at the Homi Bhabha Centre for Science Education, Mumbai, with the objective of bringing together teachers, educators, and mathematicians in a joint endeavour, with the aim to serve as an instrument to improve the standards of mathematics at various levels, generate interest in mathematics among students through various activities, nurture mathematical talent, etc.
MTA has been in charge of organizing, in collaboration with HBCSE, the PRMO (Pre-Regional Mathematical Olympiad) which is the first step in the sequential selection process towards participation in the International Mathematical Olympiad (IMO).

The first stage of the programme will be called the Indian Olympiad Qualifier in Mathematics (IOQM) organized by the Mathematics Teachers’ Association (India). This will be a three-hour examination consisting of 30 questions with each question having an integer answer in the range 00 – 99.
The second stage will be an Indian National Mathematical Olympiad (INMO) organized by the Homi Bhabha Centre for Science Education (HBCSE), TIFR. This will be a four-hour examination consisting of six questions with proof-based answers.

6. BRICS Math Competition
BRICS is the acronym coined to associate five major emerging economies: Brazil, Russia, India, China, and South Africa. The BRICS members are known for their significant influence on regional affairs.
BRICSMATH is an annual online competition being organized in Mathematics, without any charges, for students of classes 1 to 12 in BRICS countries (Brazil, Russia, India, China, South Africa, Indonesia, and Vietnam).

As part of the various initiatives held under India’s Chairmanship, a research paper on required skill development in BRICS countries, a workshop on skill development, and many more have been organized in the previous years. The various initiatives at the BRICS forum lay a special focus on nurturing the Mathematical skills of children, which further cater to building their reasoning, critical thinking, problem-solving, and even effective communication skills. 1. American Invitational Mathematics Exam (AIME)
The American Invitational Mathematics Examination (AIME) is the second exam in the series of exams used to challenge bright students on the path toward choosing the team that represents the United States at the International Mathematics Olympiad (IMO). While most AIME participants are high school students, some bright middle school students also qualify each year.

High-scoring AIME students are invited to take the prestigious United States of America Mathematics Olympiad (USAMO) for qualification from taking the AMC 12 or the United States of America Junior Mathematics Olympiad (USAJMO) for qualification from taking the AMC 10.
The AIME is administered by the Mathematical Association of America (MAA). Art of Problem Solving (AoPS) is a proud sponsor of the AMC.

2. Perennial Math Tournaments
Perennial Math Tournaments is one of the most popular international math competition for elementary students. An online, virtual, or in-person math tournament—you choose! Rules vary by tournament, so check out their info pages below to learn more.

Harvard MIT Invitational is one of the most prestigious math competitions for high school students. The Harvard MIT Invitational is an international math competition for high school students. Comprising two annual events, the February competition is known for being more difficult and to provide a challenge for the world’s top math whizzes. Prizes, prestige, and the opportunity to impress two of the world’s finest universities are awarded to the top ten-scoring individuals and the top five-scoring teams.

5. Purple Comet Math Meet
An online, international mathematics competition designed for middle and high school students. There is a ten-day window during which teams may compete, choosing a start time that’s most convenient. Problems range in difficulty.

6. Matific Math League
A fun-filled online mathematics competition for primary school children. Millions of students from over 20 countries participate in The Matific Math League every year.

Students can log in to their Matific account, go to the Adventure Island, Arena, or Assigned Work and start completing activities. Note that the training zone will be locked during the competition.
Each activity can add a maximum of 5 stars.
There’s no limit to the no. of times an activity can be attempted, but only the attempt that gets the maximum star will be added to the competition total.
During the competition period, students can log in and log out as many times as any time.
Each student has a target of 600 stars to collect till the end of the competition.
Students can continue to play even after they have collected 600 stars, but the stars will not be added to their competition total.
Training Zone will be locked during the competition

7. Math Kangaroo
Mathematical Kangaroo (also known as International Mathematical Kangaroo, or Kangourou sans frontieres in French) is an international mathematical competition held across 92 countries in the world. There are twelve levels of participation, ranging from grade 1 to grade 12. The key competence tested by Mathematical Kangaroo is not just pure knowledge of formulas, but the logical combination of concepts.

Eligible for Grades: 1 to 12
In India Math Kangaroo Contest, students compete in 12 categories. Students of Grade 1 and Grade 2 will take the same test paper Pre-Ecolier but will be ranked separately. Paper taken by grade 1 students is named Pre-Ecolier-1 whereas paper taken by students of grade 2 is named Pre-Ecolier-2. The same applies to Grades 3, 4; Grades 5, 6; Grades 7, 8; Grades 9, 10, and Grades 11, and 12 students.
