The Indian Certificate of Secondary Education or ICSE is a private board for school education in India. 5th is considered to be the foundational class which consists of basic core topics. Chapter 3: Whole Numbers

Chapter 4: Factors and Multiples

In this chapter, you will learn about the factors and multiples of numbers and their properties. You will also learn different methods of finding what are factors and multiples and how to find the HCF and LCM of two or more numbers and what are prime and composite numbers.

Chapter 5: Basic Geometrical Ideas

This chapter of the ICSE maths syllabus for class 5, explains the basic geometrical shapes that are used to draw all 2D shapes. You will learn about point, line, line segment, ray, and also the difference between open and closed figures.

You studied whole numbers and large numbers. These numbers are also called positive numbers. You will learn how to represent integers on a number line and how to compare and order integers and also how to add and subtract integers.

Fractions are special types of numbers that represent a part of a whole. This chapter explains the various types of fractions and how you can compare fractions. In this chapter, you will also learn the two basic operations – addition, and subtraction of fractions.

Chapter 9: Decimals

Decimals are also used to represent part of a whole and are similar to fractions. In this chapter, you will learn about decimals, their similarities with fractions, and how you compare decimals. In this chapter, you will also learn the basic operations that are performed on decimals – addition, and subtraction and also the process of converting fractions to decimals and vice-versa.

Chapter 10: Data Handling
