The Indian Certificate of Secondary Education or ICSE is a private board for school education in India. 4th is considered to be the foundational class which consists of basic core topics. It covers a range of topics that are essential for students to master before moving on to higher-level mathematics. Chapter 1: Numbers

You already know about numbers and operations on numbers. In this chapter of the ICSE maths syllabus for class 4, you will use large numbers and learn about reading and writing these numbers. You will also learn to perform addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division on large numbers.

Chapter 2: Factors and Multiples

Chapter 3: Fractions

In this chapter of the ICSE maths syllabus for class 4, you will learn how to represent parts of a whole and how to add and subtract these numbers. You will also know about different types of fractions and how to compare fractions.

Chapter 4: Decimals

This chapter introduces you to place values of decimal numbers, and how to convert decimals to fractions and vice-versa. You will also learn how to compare and add and subtract decimals.

Chapter 5: Metric Measures

We use units of measurement to measure length, mass, and capacity. In this chapter of the ICSE maths syllabus for class 4, you will learn about different units of measurement and what is meant by metric measures. You will also learn the method of converting from lower to higher units and vice-versa.

Chapter 6: Time

Time is an ongoing and continuous sequence of events that occur in succession, from the past through the present, and to the future. We use clocks and watches to read the time. In this chapter, you will learn about different units of time and two different types of clocks, and how to calculate the time elapsed.

You have learned about different operations performed on numbers. In this chapter, you will understand the concept of money – currency notes and coins and how you can calculate the price of items using mathematical operators.

Chapter 8: Geometry
